Post by 91White-T »

Will this fit a 91 Legacy MAF, it looks like it should but I wanna make sure before I shell out the $25.

The adapter should fit, yes; I bought a MAF adapter from Nino's Auto Accessories on NASIOC that I would guess was meant for people with newer Subarus (because he was selling them on NASIOC), and it fits my MAF perfectly.

I'd caution you against that filter, though... Looks like a cheap no-name brand; "Blitz style?"

You don't want to trust your engine's integrity to that. Shell out a few more bucks for a K&N or something.

Nothing beats a K&N for my money. I went with a 3" conical for my NA. I had to get an adapter too.

Thanks, and by the way, I've been running a cheap ass APC cone from Pep Boys for almost 8 months now with no problem...

If you were lucky, you could probably run with no air filter for 8 months with no problem.

The thing is, you just don't know how much more dirt is getting into your engine, causing more wear on all its components. The problems this causes don't show up immediately, but a few years down the road you might find your rings aren't sealing as well as they should, or that your air/fuel mixture doesn't seem to be burning as well. With an APC filter I'd bet your engine is ingesting a lot more particulate matter, and larger matter, than it did before.

In my opinion, it's not worth saving a couple dozen bucks. I'd want my engine to last as long as possible.

Oil analysis would show this right?

Not really what you could be doing is sucking a lot of dirt onto the engine, circulating it through the moving parts and then filtering it out of the oil decreasing the capabilities of your oil filter. Also I have seen some of the cheaper filters shed chunks that allow even more dirt into the intake.

yeah....don't skimp on getting a good quality filter.

The blitz metal ones are pieces of crap, and filter nothing...."they're just bling"

You know my personal opinion on the cone filter anyways.....I'll leave that for another read......but if you want a cone filter....do it right and get a k&n

Well, I mostly got this for the adapter, not that filter, I'll definitely get a K&N cone as soon as I can afford one.

Save your money and do it right the first time. I hate to hear people complaining about their car parts being crap when they should have done more research and purchased better products to start out with.
