Post by greg donovan »

whiteline ALK vs. perrin positeve steering response system vs. SPT/STi rear control arm mount.

the whiteline is 200 the perring is 180 and i can get the spt for 100.

anyone know anything about the SPT part. brochure makes the same claims as perrin and whiteline.

the brochure is in my car right now so i dont know the part number off the top of my head

I think the spt unit doesn't alter caster as much. I will probably go that route rather then the whiteline kit, because the more the kits take anti-lift out.....the more dive you get under braking.

thats what i was thinking that the spt part could be a good compromise. especially for half the cost.

Ok, so what exactly is an anti-lift kit, and how does it work?

I used whiteline's original version. No problem with diving under braking.

here's a blurb on what they do:
The new design Whiteline anti-lift kit (ALK) is still designed to add 0.5 deg static positive castor to both front wheels while introducing a substantial amount of front anti-lift. The anodized alloy mounts coupled with the low compliance polyurethane bushings oppose front lift under acceleration while delivering up to +1 degree more positive caster. This leads to superior traction, reducing understeer allowing more power, faster acceleration and cornering. The additional static caster coupled with the new firmer bushings, deliver more dynamic caster dramatically sharpening initial turn-in response, forcing more consistent alignment angles through the corner allowing higher exit speeds. These ALK's are an essential component to increasing the handling characteristics of your Subaru, and fully compliment lowering springs and swaybars.

The ALK, actually removes "anti" geometry out of the suspension.

I emailed whiteline about this.....I'll try to dig them up...and post. Little busy now at work.

If I don't post them in a day or so, remind me.
