So went to the doc's today and got a prescription for Lipitor, woo hoo. Yeah, im almost 20 and im going to be on Lipitor... Its probably a good thing since the last 2 generations of male Hackett's have died at around the age of 50.
Anyway, also got my knock sensor today, why do I need this stupid sensor? ill never know, it looks like its just a heavy piece of metal/washer type thing with a wire sticking out of it. Is that all there is to this mysterious and troublesome device? or is there something inside??

I'm not exactly sure what they look like inside and I'm too lazy to chop one open right now, but that may be all there is to it. It might just be a piece of metal that vibrates with knock and sends the signal to the ECU so it can cut timing.

Mine was pushing around 200 but the bad cholesterol was higher then the good. My dr. gave me the option to go on meds. I decided not to for the time being. I'm 24, not overweight, excercise regularly, and eat ok. She was bugging me to come back in some time to get it rechecked, since it's been over a year since I last had it checked. I'm just not a big fan of taking meds for everything...
bad cholesterol was 219 total of 270 something. I chose to go on meds because of my family history. Be careful though it can sneak up on ya give it 30 years and your on the verge of having a heart attack, my mom had a quadruple bipass a few years ago because of it and she was lucky that this one doctor was so persistent in testing her that they got to the problem before it caused any more damage

yep, but I gotta excercise a little more now that I know all this. Its a genetic thing where my body doesn't deal with LDL's so good. same deal with my mom.

Now I have very little about medical stuff - that's my straight sister's thing, but what about having more 'good cholesterol' like olive oil or fish or whatever?

Some think the reason cholesterol is getting bad is people don't eat as much seafood as they once did. I know I could probably eat more......I just don't like cooking it....smells up the house :p
all depends on what you cook and how you cook it....some types of seafood will just have a stronger odor....won't necessarily be bad....but stronger. Granted.....it can't be worse then when I "tried" to pan sear a pork loin.....that didn't turn out too well....smoked up the house...covered the kitchen with grease.....wasn't too happy about that one....the now ex gf suggested I do that one......
Houston's probably not the best place for fresh seafood. You live on the coast, too, Laurel? I can get seafood off the dock here and it won't smell when cooked. Hell, I can try catching stuff, too, but I'm not the best fisherman.

yeah I loved the fact you could get really fresh seafood in seattle. About the only thing you could catch in the gulf is crawfish or other shit like that.
There is a place called central market where you could probably get pretty fresh seafood. It'll probably be the freshest I could get. Don't know how it would compare to buying it at the pike place market though.
