90-91 shit knob

Post by omegax »

Has anyone outthere replaced their shift knob?
All the aftermarket replacements i see have nothing to slip the boot sleeve onto... and the ones with a replacement boot do not attach the way our boot does.. anyone know of any that fit or should i not bother?

I have a round wood knob from the hardware section of Home Depot for about a dollar that I painted. I just left the boot below it.

i was thinking of changing the boot and the shift knob really soon but when i saw the boots they have like a string around the bottom end so u can tighten it so i figure u know that our boot is like ribed i guess i would just cut them so it leaves like 2 ribs left on the bottom and just tighten the boot on those or sew them or something thats just an idea tho if u try it tell me if it works. i gotta pay alot of stuff this paycheck but if i have extra money i will buy them and see if it works

Well i thought of gluing or scwring on a lip so you can tied the bottom, i also saw those tie bottom ones. Or possibly put in 4 screws on the corners and tie it to that..

OR we all write letters to overhauling or pimp my ride and get me on the show and we will see wha tkind of custom interior they make me and what they did to the shift knob/boot

You mean nobody noticed the typo in omegax's title??

Look through this thread, start with vrg3's posts and read about custom fitting shift boots...
