Hi,
I just wanted to tell you that... despite what you may hear in the newspapers / tv about canadians or quebecers, I don't share what those stupid a.h. think / says or do.
I'm profoundly and terribly ashamed about how the people of my country are acting, especialy Quebecers. My suit-case is ready... need to finish 2-3 things, and then bye bye Canada, "So long Suck***"
You may think it's not the place to talk about that, but i just wanted to make that clear to you
STi_GUY wrote:I know and understand. Thanks for voicing that. Didnt think you thought that way anyhow. Most people dont actually. Despite what the news says.
Yeah, it seems as though the news takes one or two people's views and judges that as the majority opinion. Piss-poor reporting trying to get people all riled up and increase tv ratings.
This shit is ridiculous.......the political BS that goes around in this world is just crazy.........
I do feel going to war was the right thing to do.......the possible consequences of not taking action would in my opinion cause more reprecusions down the line.
I for one prefer proactiveness on matters then reactiveness.......I like to have more control over what's coming down the pipe rather then just go along for the ride.
The world is-a changin' It'll be interesting to see how the next 5-10 years play out......
Maybe a bit with tath, but the main thing is people at the Devils-Canadiens hockey game in Montréal started booing the american anthem to protest against the war...Sports Events ar SO not into political debates...This was a lack of respect from the people in Montréal...
I must say I was very upset about that, but I know it's not all of you. I have very strong feelings about what we are doing, in fact I am thinking about backing up my feelings and enlisting again (I was in the Army 96-00) I don't know if I can just watch what happens in the next 5-10 years.
Thanks for letting us know, but I don't judge people unless I know them.
I agree with Josh and Brian. I don't like war, but I really don't think we have a choice. Something must be done to prevent another 9-11...
I have no intentions at this point to join the service, but if a draft were issued, I would sign up without hesitation. I have no problem serving my country if they need me...
"Der Wahnsinn ist nur eine schmale Brücke/die Ufer sind Vernunft und Trieb"
you were right, i was talking about the "Booing" of the US anthem at the Canadien Hockey game.
but i was also talking about that senator who said "Screw the americans" last week, or that deputee "Those americans, i hate those bastards" ...and the other one saying that Bush is a stupid moron ... .. @#!%?%&*$?(%&*(
The big problem here is that the "Normal quebecer" thinks in majority like me. But, all the artists and people in the medias, or our politicians (usualy, the ones the rest of the world sees in newspapers / TV) , are realy disconnected from reality here, and are a lot influenced by french people... french is like a second market for our signers and politicians, so they have to be nice with them... but the rest of the population don't realy like french people in general (i know some frenchies here and they are very nice though) ...
And being separated from the rest of the Canada, Quebec being is how country.... the way our Qc. gouvernement governs right now, it's bankrupcy in no time ! There is election right now, and the game is not "Voting for the best", it's "Voting for the less worst" (?) !!!!!! Damn stupid government... Can you imagine that 640M$ is spent for the "Culture" and all that shit, and only 17M$ is spent for sport ????!!!!
I mean, what kind of haugthy people we have for government... okok i'll stop here, this drives me realy mad..
After a 2 years study on weither the quebecers were to stupid to turn right on reds, the "Blind social groups" were winning and the study would conclude that it is too dangerous, and we should not be allowed to turn !!!!! But, by chance, this raised a movement in the population and the government finally gave it a go, for the April 13 2003.
But this was a "Greek gift". in fact, what the government did : they gave the right to turn right on reds, BUT gave the therms of application to each towns, along with a "guide" on selecting the lights to allow the turn. After the application of that guide, less than 20% of the lights are "Ok" to turn on red at all time !!!!!!!!!! Here in quebec city, on about 700lights, +500 lights are "No-Right-Turn" !!!
Government said to us "Ok youll be allowed to turn right", but, under the blanket, asked to cities to restrict that on almost all lights !!!
Just because a little group of about 1000 blind people, 6 000 000 people will be restricted....
I'm so fed-up of that. If you want something in that Province, you must create a social-group, and allways ask the government. but the -normal people- , the working class, don't have the time to be part of such group.
As a life long montrealer i have to say i really love the fact my govt spends 640 million on cultural activities, instead of silly debt reduction programs (like the govt of ont.) which will provide few long term benefits. The great thing about quebec is our understanding that big buisness isnt the only interest group in society, and as such we spend money on programs that improve our collective standards of living. In montreal (as well as in quebec city) on any given weekend there are numerous FREE concerts and expositions, and it is only up to the individual to take advantage of them. And one must also realize that the majority of french speaking quebecers (and some english ones like myself ) get there news from tv5 (canal 2) which originates out of france. And as such aren't sold on the rhetoric presented by the US news sources (CNN for example ) This isnt to say that I in any way condone the actions of Saddam, but the link between him and al queeda is contentious at best, and the motives for invasion aren't to free the Iraqi people as some would like you to believe.
just my two cents
IM canadian
Damn proud of it and Im not sorry for anyone or for any shit
Its like an american saying "Sorry about bush being a retarded Moron" Its not your fault your leaders being a moron and I dont expecto you to apologize for it
So you just belive the French news gordini? I'm sure they don't have any bais. Every one has bias and the French news does as does the US news. And I just wanted to explain to you NOTHING is free, NOTHING. It all comes out of the consumer in the end. Free stuff paid by the government (your taxes) sounds kinda communist to me. But what the hell, Cali is headed that way to .

obviously no news source is free from agenda's, however when one takes into account the fact that the more sources one is looking to for information, the less of a chance that it will be one-sided. take note, for example, of the potrayal of the number of casualities on CNN, where they claim that "nothing can be confirmed", which has the effect of undermining the Truthfullness of the count. Whereas other news sources refrain from attaching this adjoinder. Use of language is tremendously important in dissemination of information.
And just to clarify, we are obviously not communists, but we do believe in a system of captalism that takes into account market failures (medicare for example.) Think about it, in America, which is the richest developed country in the world, there is the highest rate of post-natal deaths in infants of any developed country. This is obviously a market failure which the gov't dosen't take into account. But who cares about the poor anyways!?!?
