help please

hi the boost gauge is plumbed into the inlet manifold and the car starts breaking down between four and five thousand revs but above six thousand the car cames back to life.the boost solenoid is disconnected is it worth reconnecting and if so how do i go about this and where would the mbc then fit i.e wastegate or turbo side of the solenoid.
