17X8 48 offset??

Post by WRXdan »

Will this wheel fit a 92 Legacy? The tires are 225/45/17. The car has stock suspension.

Might rub the struts a wee bit. Do you have the wheels/tires? I'd say sling them under the car and see how they fit.

Yes is do, but the car is on jack stands now. Pulled the engine. Just future planning.

Kinda bummed that the Legacy has smaller rotors up front compared to the WRX.

I do know that the turbo 15's don't fit the WRX:)

all you need is the WRX caliper and caliper brackets to fit the WRX rotors up there. lots of used ones floating around from people upgrading the brakes on their heavy WRX's.

Yea Dan, your WRX front's will bolt right on.

One thing the Turbo Legacy has over the WRX (besides weight distribution, .2L of displacement, a closed deck, more room, and less weight) is the rear vented rotors.

A proportioning valve from a BF and some WRX front brakes and you've got a really nice stopping car. If you've got the bling, a set of rear B4 calipers, brackets and rotors would be tits. Same diameter as the "H6" upgrade (11.4", same as WRX front rotors), but vented and pimp :)

If you just consider the tire size only, ignoring the offset for a moment, the 225/45 is not the right size at all. The most appropriate 17" sizes would be:

205/45
225/40

If you go 215 you have the choice of being off by about a 1/2" in diameter- either too tall with 215/45 or too short with 215/40.

So, no, the tires are the wrong size.

Then you get into the question of will the WHEEL fit....

I run 17x8 48 offset 225/45/17 setup on my sti.
I think this setup might rub wirh the stock setup. if not it will be close.
they do work with my current suspension set up thought. so it can work but not 100% sure with all stock suspension.

The diameter doesn't bother me too much because it will be running a 4.44 gear.

I mounted the rears and the driver side is fine but the passenger side rubs a little. Now I haven't let the car off the jack yet so this could all change. I have not done the fronts yet.
