Oil Filter?
What kind of oil filter do you use? The turbo is in desperate need of an oil change, and I've always used NAPA Gold filters, but all of the NAPA's in the area are now gone... any suggestions for filters?

Wow. I'm glad somone asked that question. I tend to be kinda geekish about certain things and oil, and oil filters are something I've looked into quite extensively.

Are you running synth or dino? Going 7500 with dino (even the good shit), seems awfully long to go between changes. 5-6k between oil changes is prolly okay, but I'd do it every three if only for posterity.
I'm anal like that though. Regular oil and filter changes (with a high quality filter)are the single most important thing you can do to increase the longevity of your cars engine.
I may opt to try running Mobil 1 synthetic next oil change (my car doesn't leak a drop so I should be A-okay), but I've alway's used dino.
The results are negligable, but synthetic is generally better from the long term perspective.

My car's lucky to get a change earlier than every 10k. I use Mobil 1 and have a nice set of leaks, so I put so much new shit in it over the course of things that its almost like an oil change every 5K. I would like to know what filter will last the longest, though. I've tried multiple kinds and have no isdea which is better. I just never get the cheap shit.

I have the K&N and it's worth it for the peace of mind and long term savings alone.

I don't use a K&N filter. Had one on my modified VW Bug and it clogged the carbs.
Another friend of mine had it on his Volvo and had weird problems that the Volvo technicians couldn't fix. The friend of mind who's an exceptional troubleshooter finally figured it out. Although my friend had gotten rid of the K&N by that time he mentioned it in passing and the mechanic examined the air intake system and sure enough, the red oil had messed up the Volvo's sensors. After replacing the necessary parts, the Vovo ran like new.
Soooo, while I would like to use the K&N, I'm not 100% sold on its advertised effectiveness.

Not to turn this thread into a debate on the efficacy or reliability of K&N filters, but it sounds like the Volvo owner had reoiled the filter way too much, which they warn about in the instructions. I've had mine for about 150k now without issues. Also had one on my '83 without a problem.

No, no debate intended. Probably the Volvo owner did over-oil his K&N; come to think of it, maybe I did too (I sometimes have the tendency to do things better than what's adequate or ideal thereby ruining what I'm doing).

Yup. . . I'm pretty sure he meant "dino-juice" which is what I usually end up saying. Easier than "regular oil", IMO.

i went to work today, and they had like, every oil filter except the ones for the legacies.... 
SO i asked the auto guys about it, and the legacy driver pulled one from the back(they have them only for customers that purchase an oil change) and sold it to me for $2
