$5K seems kinda high for an 11 yr old car with 100K miles.

it does look to be in great shape with relatively low miles, but $5000 seems a tad high...

I got my 93 legacy turbo earlier this year in Denver for $2300 with 97,000. My friend lives half a block from superrupair and bought his svx from them. I personally dont like the place. The svx blew a powersteering line and so we put power steering fluid into it to get it back to the house. When he took it to the shop to get fixed they told him that the power steering fluid had eaten away the inside of the steel lines because only transmission fluid is supposed to be used in the svx and that he was going to need to get the entire power steering system replaced and it would cost about 4500. I laughed my ass off when i heard that but he believed it for a long time, he finally just got the blown hose replaced and it works perfectly.

Its semi true though, Subaru's use Auto tranny fluid (dextron or dextron III) as a power steering fluid, not regular "power steering fluid" as used in domestic vehicles.

I can see that happening. I mean when people put regular, type f, or dexron in honda's it destroys the system. If you put anything but cybrid in xt6's you'll kill the pump. So I dont think it's that hard to believe that if you put regular blue fluid in our system you'd damage something. It'd be like putting GL-5 in a 4eat.

power steering fluid is the same as transmission fluid, just more refined and has less impurities. I do not see any form of power steering fluid being corrosive enough to eat away at steel lines, but maybe that is just me.
