If we could all weigh in at the same scale.

Post by douglas vincent »

Since I dont have any spare money for real power at this time, ie turbo, supercharger or nitrous, I am having to do the opposite gain, which is losing weight.

I weigh in at a local trash/recycling place on 28th in Portland. I started at a little over 3100-3200 lbs with me in the car. I removed all air-conditioning stuff, rear and front seats, spare tire, all trim except dash and headliner, carpet, trailer hitch, random metal objects, rear plastic resevoir, metal and rubber silenceing pads, and God knows what else.

So now I am down to 2960 lbs.

Yeah, doesnt seem like alot.

That is why it would be great to get people together to weight in together and compare weights the same day on the same scale!

The rig is most deffinately faster and handles great though. Cant wait for the Friday night drags. I hope to break 16.25 with my little NA.

Bye

too bad i'm not any closer, I've noticed much improved handling after removing many items...

- rear seats
- misc interior trim
- carpet
- tar sound deadening
- a/c
- trunk liner/trim
- ABS unit, proportioning valve and excess brake line

our rear seat is rediculously heavy

Actually, that's not a bad idea...

The moonroof system in our cars is REALLY heavy.
If you really want to shed some weight, replace it with a cheap-o popout sunroof. I bet you'd shed another 40 lbs at least.

This reminds me of a bit I saw in a C&D (I think that's what it was) where they were trying to get a tricked out Nissan Sentra to run 14's or something.
It was seriously tongue in cheek, but they eventually stripped the car down to the chasis and drivetrain in their quest to maximize performance gains.
It was pretty funny because they started out innocently enough, by removing a few superflous things, and then kept on removing things until they were down to next to nothing -the driver was duct taped to a box or something (it was the lightest thing they could come up with to secure the guy with) :D

Why don't you interior pullers replace the side glass with plexi?
