New car haha...

Post by Chi_San »

Basically, I bought a used 2000 Legacy Sedan. It needed a few fluids changed, basic service, like a 30k or a 60k (the 30k apparently was skipped or missed, the car now has 50k on it). Well, I took it to a shop, and had the guy do it. Today, I picked it up, and noticed driving it home, it had NO POWER at all. It was idling rough, and the CEL was flashing a misfire code at me. I remembered back to my old Legacy L wagon and when I pulled the #3 plug wire while it was running. I called the guy at the shop and told him it was running on 3 cylinders, and he asked me to drive it back.

He found that the #3 plug wire had been bent just a little, and because of that, it wouldn't go into place again. He straightened it, and we were off in less than 5 minutes. ;)

Ever had anything like this happen? Just kinda randomly messing around, then finding out that you learned something that came in handy later...

*off topic*

Hey, I just noticed you're from Dreadford! I was born in Ashland and even though I grew up mainly in Eugene after my parents divorced, I lived off and on in the Rogue Valley and even did my Freshman and Sophmore years at South Medford High. Most of my family still lives there and I come out for visits every couple years. Anyways, just thouight I'd say high and that I feel your pain. ;)

Hehe, thanks. :p I was just up on top of Mt. Ashland today in the Legacy. It's smoother going up the dirt access road in the car than in the truck!

PM me when you're in town and we might be able to go on a cruise or find something that's actually fun to do here. :p

I had a wicked bad misfire in #4. Never figured out the problem. Replaced the wire, plugs, distributor, nothin. Finally sold the car. It did this for about 4 months or so, most often in the rain (it did it on my 9 hour drive back from Clemson University in the snow on the highway. That was the scariest drive of my life. 2 bikes on the roof worth more than the car, and the tail kept wanting to shimmy out in EVERY turn. Fun as shit, but goddamn that was scary.)

Yeah, I'm so used to the wagon that I fishtail a little every now and then. Lighter in the back. :p

One of my plugs went bad and that made one of the wires go bad once in my '94 wagon. I had to give it gas at stop lights to keep it from stalling out.
