Hey all,
I just got back from a once in a lifetime opportunity! Check out
http://www.mach2racing.com (Check the images)
I was sent a link to these guys when their US based mechanic (WeeGee) broke his leg - they were looking for a guy with rally/race car mechanic experience. It was a long shot, but I sent in an e-mail detailing the work I did for a Canadian rally team as a crew chief.
Next day they sent my an e-mail welcoming me to the team. 3 days later I was on route with 2 buddies do Pike's Peak! Working on a RS200e! With Stig Blomqvist as the driver!!!
I'll be posting pics and the full story on my car clubs site within the next week - so check http://www.qcma.org for more details in the coming weeks.
Things went really well, we won the unlimited class, but due to weather we could not do the full run up the hill and we were not able to get the King of the Hill, nor the World record - which they want badly.
I had hoped that Jason Grahn would be there with the SCCA rally contingent - but no such luck (Finally meet someone from this list!). If anyone else was there, I was the guy with really long black hair (with a REALLY big smile on my face!!) working on the RS200e across from the Falken tire Semi and the drift cars.
Some specs to wet your whistle:
0-60 < 2 seconds
0-140 < 200 yards
accelerated at over 1G
2.4L Cosworth Ford making almost 900 HP at sea level.
I'm still smiling!!
Later...

That's sick! I'd love any kind of job right now, but that must have been awesome.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Wow, that's really cool. I wish I could get an oppurtunity like that. A 900 hp Cosworth, that sounds sick.

Nice! That is 3 very sexy cars. That Audi is sick, I like the dual FMIC's to each side. It's very Camel GT like.

We built that car in four and half months and it had never been driven before our first practice run on Tuesday morning. We ended up not finishing due to the fact that the driveshafts on Audi's are a little short and pulled out of the cv on hairpins. Other than that our weekend went flawless. It was amazing. The Haltech standalone in it is amazing and a blast to play with and tune the car with.

Hey Grant!
Thanks for posting the pics! That's even me working on the car
It was certainly an ordeal working on that car, but what an incredible experience. The stand alone on that car was the most comprehensive system I've ever seen - Pectel 6. Amazing!
After the $10G turbo went, the bearing debris went into the motor and took out the dry sump, which stopped the timing belt - unfortunately the crank still spun ruining a $30 G engine. Long day of major surgery and some testing at PPIR had us back on track.
PM me and we can arrange some photo swaps - I just posted my pics from Pike's Peak on our site:

There's even a vid of the Audi I believe, and some pics of it off the line.
