ECU Reflash

Post by J-MoNeY »

Have any of you computer gurus ever considered the option of a reflash of our current ECU so that it could run with 10-13psi without the aid of a boost controller?

My friend got his 04 GTI reflashed. Pretty much they just took out the old ECU and reprogramed it to different perameters so that it could run more boost with all adjustments already made to compensate for it. Then he just pluged it back in. I think he was around 11psi before. Now he's at about 20-23psi.

Something like Cobb's AccessPort or AccessECU...

...a product or solution like this for BC/BF turbos would be really great.

okay I understand the electrical part, but was wondering how you can run a higher psi than normal without any form of boost control.

Milehi can do it. He said he could do it for a couple hundred bucks to people on this board. Try a PM to him.

I would Image it alows the stock boost controller to allow higher boost levels to be acheived.

What j-money said, setting max boos tin the ecu will let it learn what it needs to do to achieve that boost and set timing and fuel accordingly.

Sure, the stock boost control solenoid, under command from the ECU, with reflashed parameters. Ought to work.

Someone... crack the code!

the Link ECU uses the stock boost solenoid, I can program mine on the fly! at the moment it spikes to just under 20psi then settles on about 18psi by redline.

The stock ECU can NOT be reflashed. In order to reprogram it, you have to remove the ECU, solder in a socket, flash a new chip with the original rom and reinstall. I only know of one that's been done.

Is there a possibility that a performance shop that does dyno tuning might be able to reflash our ECUs? There's a good one close to me that has a 9 second Supra...I'm gonna ask them about a reflash.
