Grrr... newer brakes are making my ears bleed!

Post by elkaboom »

I recently (like, two months maybe?), did a bunch of brake work on my sedan -to the tune of almost 600.00 bucks!
Anyhew, over the last 2-3 weeks, I've noticed that my brakes are making a hideous grinding noise after any kind of prolonged driving or after a lot of stop and go driving.
Despite the noise, the car stops fine; I have noticed a bit more brake dust than I'd like, but nothing overly eyebrow raising.
I'm curious if this a pad issue or if I have a hardware malfunction somewhere in the caliper assembly.
I've read bits and pieces about different pads here on the bbs, but to be honest, never gave it much thought -as long as I stop when I hit the brakes, don't notice any fade or hear any sphincter puckering noises  , I'm a happy guy :D .
Is it possible that the pads I replaced the last set with are inferior to "official" Subaru pads? Should I be looking to swap my current pads or what?
My brakes are pretty much bone stock atm, so there's nothing fancy or convoluted down there.
Curious...
