Possible inadvertent Suby shopping
So, while just checking out the Fargo Suby dealership I found myself damn near buying a 05 2.5RS Wagon, 5spd in a cool dark blue color. So MSRP is solid at 18K or so, they wouldn’t budge on that. But I did haggle for my 92 Leg. Believe it or not the dealer offered 2000.00 for my 200K+ 92 L that I paid 4,000.00 for 4 years ago. So I could have a car with 7mi on it, I put 6.8 on it during the test drive, for roughly 16K. The Leg needs new tires, the tranny is getting scratchy again, the H20 pump might be leaving, crappy paint-starting to rust out, there’s a main seal leak, the wind shield is the OE one and it shows…..etc-I'm sure you are all so very familiar with this crap. So I’m looking at putting a few thou into the Leg to keep it running through one more ND winter, or I can damn near make money on it and finance an 05 RS. And the 05 RS is not a stripper by any means, really a WRX just with the 2.5 and different wheels. I figured it would cost and extra 1000.00 to insure a Rex, on top of the 6000.00 price tag difference…so that’s not going to happen. The base 05 Legacy 2.5 with a 5spd is 21,000 or so, another few thousand for the wagon, again a bit out of my reach. I’d love this groups advise, I promised myself that I’d never buy a new car from a dealer….But damn I’m close.

What about a couple-year-old one that's already taken its initial depreciation hit (although this is less important with a Japanese car)?

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

If you're really wanting a new car then that sounds like a pretty good deal. $2k sounds like a decent trade in. Steve makes a good point though...

I did it!
I haggled my Legacy up to 2500 to the dealer, and got them to knock another 500 off MSRP. My poor Legacy looked so sad without my crap in it and the bike rack, especially when my new 05 regal blue pearl 2.5RS Wagon rolled up next to it. I’ll still hang around this forum though, the only thing Nabisco is good for are Oreo’s….In fact I think I need to drive to the store and get some
Forgive the pics, my monitor is shittin' the bed so I don't really know if the pics are as bad as they look on my computer.
