MAF sensor placement ( as in right in front of the TB)
ok, just for shits n giggles, I was contemplating this.
All you experts - please throw in your .02 cents.
OK, what would happen if you moved the MAF to right before the TB? That way you could run an intercooler and put a BOV right there. ( before the MAF)
YES, there would be interesting plumbing issues, but I was wondering if anyone tried this, or has information that would make it a not-so-good mod.
It would open up some options for intake and the coffee mug mod.
Well, what do you think?

I was wondering that, and if the increase in heat would make a difference.
This was just one of those - I wonder what would happen posts
But something to think about.
But would not there be a major surge across the MAF during boost anyway?

Our MAF is a heated wire element so the added heat from the turbo would completely screw it up.

It's not calibrated for the changed position either and I'd bet that even if that weren't an issue and the excess heat didn't kill it that it would be way out of its range anyway.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Doable, as long as you can write the programming.
Look at DSM's. They run hot-wire, GM 3" MAF's post turbo with atmospheric BOV's with no problems. I've not only seen it done, but I've been in a car that's got it done. It works, but you need a "translator" to have the readings mean anything significant.
It'd be easier to convert our cars to a MAP setup than to relocate the MAF.
