HELP! Cam position sensor

I have a ej2.2t swapeed into an imprezer and i can't get it too start and i didn't do teh actual motor swap jsut the harness/ecu and i get teh Cam sens code and i think i have the "impreza" mounting location for hte sensor and that the legacy spot is different

i can can remove the CPS by unbolting one bolt and it comes right out, but in the repair manual teh instructions for the legacy incluse taking off the timing covert and belt.

if someone can get a pic of where the cam pos sits that would be awesome

What model year is the Impreza?

On the EJ22T the cam sensor is on the drivers side, near the dipstick tube. The crank sensor is under the alternator. Make sure who ever swapped the motor used the correct cam pulley. The left and right pulleys are different. One has indexed notches on the back, this is the drivers side pulley. The other pulley is smooth on the back.

They are marked 'L' and 'R' for reference.

it's a 95 but i have all the stuff from the legacy, but the camgears and cover might not be legacy

okay, can you take the cam sensor out wiht jsut one bolt or do you have to take the cover and gear off?

I think that when the previous owner ran it with the 1.8 imp ecu/sensors the cam sensor is longer and shaved the bumps off the cam gear, nopt sure goin to check tommorrow

It's one 10MM bolt. The sensor slides thru the back of cover. You can remove the sensor w/o removing the covers. There is a rubber diamond shaped gasket that is between the sensor body and cover.

I am missing that rubber gasket tahnx!!!

I checked teh back of the cam gear and those bumps don't stick out past teh edge of the gear, i.e. if i took the gear off and laid it on a table it would sit flush, so i am gonna source a cam gear tomorrow

If you see bumps then it's the correct pulley. The other pulley is smooth.
