went to my first rallycross!

Post by 206er »

It was at pacific raceways. Didnt get to run my legacy as it was in pieces, but rode along in several cars, and had a blast. got to ride in a couple gr. 2 cars including a civic and an old fiat along with my friends' gl wagon and brat. another friend took some video and pics so I may be able to post that up...
the course was insanely bumpy, rocky, and dusty. ruts 1' deep in places, and huge berms of loose dirt. they watered the course before gr. 2 and open, but it didnt do much good.
there were some pretty crazy cars there, like a gr. 5 audi quattro coupe and several 323 gtx's which may or may not have been gr.5.
I'm definitley going to the next one near me, hopefully actually in MY car. 8)
BTW there was a turbo legacy there, white sedan with different color front fender and gold revolutions. no idea wether he's on here, never got a chance to speak with him.

If you think THAT's bumpy... Nahh, no bragging. But if my legacy could (and did) handle it, then yours would have too.

That's an Open class audi.
and several 323 gtx's which may or may not have been gr.5.
They aren't group 5 either.

And a dark blue one too, damnit! That's my car! I set the fastest times out of the morning session. Well, until they counted my penalties. :D:D:D

Those cones were asking to be smashed, they were just in the way.

hey I saw your blue legacy! our cars are so similar looking-blue paint and wrx wheels except for mine being a wagon. are you still on re92's or what? they must work ok if you set some fast times...
thanks for filling me in on that audi and the gtx's, I really have no idea what the classifications are. dont even know where I got the idea those cars were g. 5??

No, I was running on barely-legal-for-productionGT Pirelli snow tires. The treadblocks aren't far enough apart to put me into open. ;)

The reason my times were so fast is because i was blatently running over cones. 1:11 was my fast time i heard, but something like 8 cones on that run.

I thought it was pretty lame... I didn't want to go full out and just kill my poor wagon. I was bottoming out and banging my skid up pretty bad!!! I got like 2nd to last in open  Not nearly as good as 2nd to first in my last rally cross.

dude if you hadnt missed those gates you woulda done a lot better, and the gates were really confusing. wasnt really your fault. they should have marked it better when they changed the course.
BTW matt, got my timing belt done, car's running now. :)

That course was friggin hard. Nice that they didnt really wet it down, but not so nice that they had the trucks go before a bunch of other groups.

Didnt the Turbo leg get fastest times of the day? I think I also picked up your inner fender, but you left before I could get it to you.

Im glad it doest count for my points down here, cause I didnt do so hot.

They were also very disorganized I thought. Its a bad idea to have your timers act as safety steward.
