OK, this just the online version of AA, but we should call is SS- subaru spenders.

I only get car magazines with ads that could benefit my car.
I did not used to do that.

When I go to Home Depot I don't see Home improvement, I see Car mods.

When I drive, I think: that car sucks, I could beat it, or that car is fast, but in winter, I would kick its ass.


My budget goes: food, housing, basic bills, car=leftover money.

Ayup. I can definitely relate -I'll pay all of my bills for the week and with the leftover money, I usually find myself strolling the aisles at the local performance shop or whatnot, or scouring the car for little imperfections that I can repair, and thus, spend money to fix.
Also, I find that I needlessly re-replace things a lot: i.e., plugs, filters, hoses, vacum lines... pointless for the most part, but it's an odd addiction.
I've pretty much stopped listening to the radio in order to listen to the sound of the engine and drivetrain or any other miscelaneous noises that I can further investigate and/or fix. I do, however, listen to Joward Stern in the morning, so I'm not totally ignoring my *ahem* expensive car stereo :oops:
My coffee and dinner table also have a lot of Subaru related stacked up on them, and the back of the toilet, well, I won't go there.
Anyway, I share your obsession.

Engine in my kitchen.

One of the reasons I wanted a Caprice was so I would stop spending or planning to spend money on my car and save it. I wouldn't bother doing anything to the Caprice and since there's no encouragement for fast driving I wouldn't be tempted.

I mean, shit, I blew out an exhaust valve in an N/A Subaru!

I got my brother a Home Depot NASCAR hat and he's not a NASCAR fan. Yes I share my addiction with my brothers, in fact I think it might be genetic. My grandfather restores Model A's, my Dad is working on a '40 Ford pickup with a Flathead....

I'm thinking about all the cool go fast stuff I can buy when I get home because I don't have to spend any money on rent or food here in Iraq. I can't forget the beer money I can't spend here :(

Oh, shit they don't drink there! Never thought of that particular hardship. Don't they have some kind of quarters with beer provided for off-duty personel?

My uncle was in the Air Force in Vietnam and his job was running the officer's club and all he did was get strippers and alcohol for the officers. I know the Air Force has it a lot easier then the other branches, but that really sucks if they don't have at least something for everyone else.

I just thought of a way to spin the ownership of these cars and all the TLC that is needed to maintain them. If you try to insure a brand spanking new Legacy GT turbo in all of its 200+ hp fury you'll get a pretty nice insurance bill for your trouble. If you buy one of these older cars and mod it you'll be getting similar hp for a fraction of the cost of not only buying a new car but higher insurance rates too but I guess most of you probably realize this anyway.
