Greasing camshaft oil seals?

Post by DeusExMachina »

I took a peak in the manual, and the guide says to put grease on the camshaft oil seals. What kind of grease? Does this matter? I noticed there's packing grease on the inside edge of the seal, is there anything in addition to this?

The ones I got were pre-greased.

I put a bit of 10w30 on mine just to help them slide home. This maybe a mistake in light of the grease theory above, but if they start leaking I will post back. So far so good.
