This past weekend the Maple Leaf Rally Club organized the Fourstar Motorsports Rallycross event up here in Bancroft, Ontario. We had 34 cars entered, including 3 Legacy Turbos.
Here are a few pics of me (including me messing up badly in the first, and showing off my blown struts in the second) and the other Legacies. Oh, and one of ACP as well
He won his class! (only one in it though). Overall, he placed 11th of 34, pretty damn fast. He beat me by a second on the first lap, the one I messed up. He was very smooth, but he's been doing Solo 1/2 for years, and helped design the course. He also had a couple runs through it setting it up too. Still, very impressive.

Yeah, it is pretty impressive to be able to run that well in a minivan, whether he's had practice or not. He's probably had lots of extra practice in shopping mall parking lots.

was it a old turbo minivan or a v-6? AWD?
i wonder how light you could get a minivan?

Yeah, they're Forester steelies with Silverstone gravel tires, great grip. I ran 25psi all day, and did manage to get gravel between a tire and rim on my last run, didn't even notice it was flat until I went to put my street tires back on. Gravel tires have such stiff sidewalls, it didn't sit much lower.
The minivan is a newish Dodge Caravan, V6, FWD with all season tires. It was all about being smooth for him. Also, he had the release handle for his parking brake disabled, so he had gas and brake with the right foot, and e-brake with the left. Here's a pic:
Um, yeah, tire pressures, not boost! 11psi boost, no intercooler (yet, Saab TMIC waiting to go in before the next event). They're 15", and no I don't think they fit over WRX brakes. My buddy with an RS runs Legacy mags for his gravels, but they also won't clear WRX brakes.
If you want to clear those brakes with a 15" wheel, you're going to have to look at something like a Compomotive or Speedline like these:

Heh. Sorry to put an Evo on your radar. For what it's worth I had the Legacy there as well and planned to run it but we needed to shake down some cooling system mods on the Mits. Also I like driving it. FTD was the icing on the cake....

1990 LS 5MT (15,000 miles in the last 6mos)
1991 SS 4EAT (just bought, looking at 5MT conversion or transplant to LS)
1997 Evo (evil, wicked, lovely rally car)
