Renting a garage.

Post by Tleg93 »

There's this guy locally who's renting garage space for automobile work or whatever at $50 - $75 a month I believe. Once I get on my feet again I'm seriously considering trying this out for at least a couple of months. The one big obstacle between me and doing work on my car is the fact that I have nowhere to really let the car sit while I'm tinkering. Any opnions or experience with this would help. I'd definetly like to work on Magen if I could store her in a dry and safe place while she's naked and in pieces.

That was my big issue when I lived in an apt, and why I HAD to have a garage in the place I moved to.

The only way I'd consider renting garage space would be if it's big enough to open all four doors at once. That's my requirement for garage space in any future apartment/condo/whatever. Doesn't matter if it's a single car garage, just has to be wide enough.

It's an older two car garage.....so for todays standards, it'd be a 2 1/2 car garage. You could comfortably fit two cars in there before I put the shelves up and built the workbench.

I think I could still squeeze two cars in there....but it'd be that....a pretty tight squeeze.

I have a pretty big living room. I almost wish the garage had a little recessed room, and was in further in that area, and the living room was smaller. I'd put the work bench and tools over in that area. That'd give me a little more room.

However i can't complain. I've got a pretty nice setup now. I really need a "shop" and a garage ;)

My garage is set up like Josh's. 2 car, with 2-single-car doors. If I pull into the middle, I have enough room to have all 4 doors open and plenty of room on all sides.

I wish we could knock out the wall to our 3rd garage, but something tells me that thing is a very load bearing wall, lol. The 3rd garage is not nearly big enough to do anything but park.

When I get my own place, I'd rather have a 5 or 6 car garage, and my living space on top of it. That, or a warehouse and just build my own rooms :).

We've got a 10 car with 3 doors, problem is there are support rods positioned throughout. This makes finding a big enough spot a pain. My tools are a good 30 feet from my car... Oh well better then nothing
