Resistance of the purge valve when its working?
Id like to get the spec of the purge valve when its in operating correctly.

The solenoid valve should have 36 ohms of resistance across its terminals. When it's hooked up and the engine is running, one of its terminals is connected to +12v through the ignition relay and the other goes to the ECU.
If you're trying to trick the ECU into thinking the valve is there when it's not, a 36 ohm resistor ought to do it. The catch is that the resistor needs to be able to handle the ECU driving it at full current. This means it has to dissipate up to around 6 watts. Most power resistors are expensive.
I'd say go to http://www.bgmicro.com/ (great surplus house by the way) and try picking some of the power resistors they have cheap and putting them in series. Maybe two RES1071's and two RES1012's.

A lot of purge valves will check ok and then fail in operation they heat up a bit and then open. A check for this is to attach a meter to the contacts and then push backwards on the connector part of the valve while holding it.
This simulates the expansion of the valve while it it is hot and the wires separate from the terninals in this condition. You could just use a heat gun and watch the meter also.
