1998 legacy 2.5 bar diameter and fit ?

Post by professor »

Can someone confirm that the rear swaybar from 1998 legacy wagon with 2.5 engine, is 18mm, and it, the associated control arms links mounts, will all bolt up to my 92 wagon ?

I was under the impression that second gen chassis suspension (bd/bg/gd/gg) fitting first gen chassis (bc/bf/gc/gf/gm) was few and far between I know they changed end link style either in the esecond gen or third gen.

I'd be happy to take a few snaps of the 16mm 1g legacy bar in my yard. If you have the 2g bar handy, you can compare.

Thanks but it would have to be sent to me...no sense taking any chances. I'm drawing up some diagrams for making my own end links (bar aluminum stock, polyurethane bushings). I figure a 1" diameter bushing with 3/8" hole, just over 1/2" thick should be just the ticket, four per link. Hey, that's exactly the size of skateboard bushings. And I have about 200 of them in durometers from 70 to near 100. Once I build 'em I'll have a lifetime supply of replacements.

I'm somewhat shellshocked at the price of OEM bushings throughout the suspension, I got a quote for all new ones and it was near $400, not including strut mounts.

So who's got the correct 18mm rear bar for me ? anyone ? C'mon someone must have one sitting around.

It's possible that the endlinks on his 92 could work with the newer endlinks of the 98 bar... They changed within in the BC/BF generation...
