Spent a good hour or so cleaning them off the front of the car yesterday. There was only like one section of I-10 from san antonio that was particularly bad with them.
Not sure if they did any damage to the paint. I'm planning on waxing the car this weekend, so I'm sure I'll find out.....

You can blame us for them...
My best understanding of the situation is that love bugs are a man-made mistake! The University of Florida was trying to cross two breeds of bugs, and they put those orange dots on their thoraxes somehow to identify them. Well, they did successfully cross them, but some dumbass let them loose. They're all over FL, but I've heard of them spreading all the way to Texas.
They only appear twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. They leave their eggs to incubate for 6 months.
For those who haven't seen them before, they're called "love bugs" because most of them are mating in midair! When I was a sick, twisted little kid, everytime a pair of them would land somewhere, I'd kill one of them so the other one would be screwing a dead corpse

Yeah Josh, you need to get them off as quick as you can. Leave them on to bake in the sun and it will be permanent damage. I've got quite a few marks on my front end from being lazy and leaving them. I'll take a lot more care when I paint it.

there may be some issues with the paint because I got some on the car when I went out to san antonio on sunday.....got way more on the way back, and cleaned them off yesterday.
