Reinstalled the Supercharger today.

Post by douglas vincent »

Well, if I ever manage to turn this thing into a kit of some sort, it would be a super simple and fast install kit. With me still having to futz with a few things and look for a few bolts, install took 2.25 hours, including swapping plugs and installing the rrfpr.

I reinstalled with the stock crank pulley so I am only pushing about 4-5 psi at most. Enough to feel some boost but not enough to blow a piston I hope. I am going to wait to install the bigger crank pulley when I can afford some sort of engine management.

Are you still controlling boost by belt tension?

With the smaller stock crank pulley, I am not using belt tension to control the boost. Instead I have mounted a 3 year old JDM monkey who is in a small cage next to the air intake. When I want higher boost I feed in meth-amphetamine to get him to pull harder on the boost lever.

If you cant tell I am joking, you need sleep.

However, with the smaller stock crank pulley, I have the belt tightened all the way so it is pushing the max it can, which is probably in the 4-5 psi range. My boost guage is tweaked so "0" is actually -5 in the vacumn range.

I only used the belt tension method when I was using the huge 7.5" crank pulley and full tension was pushing close to 12 psi. When I finally am able to afford some sort of engine management, i will probably either turn the pulley down to a smaller diameter so i can run a constant 8 psi or so.

As it is, I am very happy still with the minor boost I am recieving. I am probably equivilent to a stock 2.2t at this point, which would make sense considering I am running about stock boost for a stock 2.2t.

The car certainly gets up and goes more so than when I was running the same crank pulley and the ghetto fuel solenoid as extra fuel.

I did my test run which is a secluded on ramp which is slightly longer than a 1/4 mile (about a 1/3 at most probably) and I pulled a 104 versus a 99 (best ever NA) on my speedometer . My speedo is off so I actually was running slower than this, but still I gained about 5 mph in total, which isnt too shabby. My best ever at this test point was 117 but I was also running a 60 shot of nitrous in addition to the SC
