I'm test fitting rims and tires on my legacy. I thought an 8" rim would not fit. But what the hell I gave it another try. The fronts are fine, tons of room. The rear are tight. The rim, which is the widest part, come with in a 1/4 of the strut tube. Is that enough? I drove it and didn't hear any rubbing. I also weaved like a DUI and still didn't hear any rubbing. So am I safe other then running a little taller tire?

When I test fit the 17x7.5 Gram Lights with 225/45/17 Azenis, I was within 10mm of the rear strut tube.
To put it nicely, I'd trust it. In fact, I AM going to trust it this week when I get my tires mounted to my new rims.
