I need a new driveshaft, automatic. Are the manual transmisison shafts the same? Used is okay.
Im starting to think many of you dont push your cars hard enough. Ive never hit anything yet I manage to brake all sorts of parts that no one else has a problem with. Ive even broke MRT Lateral Links and snapped whiteline end links. Went through three wheel bearings in about 20k. I was even stupid enough to buy some kragen brake pads until I could decide on which type of aftermarket pads to use, those kragen pads lasted just over 2 months. My car is not even turbo!

I think you are just more abusive then the rest of us
I'm pretty sure the MT driveshafts are going to be different because the MT & AT trannies are different lengths.
I can take a look at the FSM when I get home.

Remove 6 14mm bolts holding the cover plate right in front of the rear cross member
Remove 4 10mm bolts holding driveshaft to differential
Remove rubber mounts from exhaust, support muffler at near normal height.
Remove 2 14mm bolts holding center bearing to body, one bolt first then slide exhaust to one side and remove other bolt
Slide yoke out of transmission housing
Put container under transmission, some fluid drips out
I wouldnt refer to it as a rear driveshaft, since we dont have a front driveshaft (integrated into transmission).

I found out a new difference between the 90-91 and the 92-94!
The later models use three U-Joints (matching other subaru models) while early version use two u-joints and one CV-joint.
Also it seems that the rear half of the Driveshaft is the same for manual and autos, while the front have is the one that changes length.
totech: I destroyed the fron U-joint. Its drivable but Im using FWD mode for now. Any torque applied to the driveshaft will twist it all out of shape, causing it to vibrate violently.
