Um.... Right.

From what I peiced together of that post, you want a BOV to make the "shhh" noise louder and bring the "booost" on faster.

Well, there's a few options.

1) Get an atmospheric BOV and build some custom piping like a few of us have done. This will make the "shhh" noise louder, but it doesn't bring the "booost" on faster.

2) Get a recirculating BOV, and build some custom piping. This won't make the "shhh" noise louder, or bring the "booost" on faster, but it will more efficiently handle higher boost loads than the stock BOV (which remains open at idle).

A BOV will not help spool time. Well, I take that back. It will very slightly help spool time, because the BOV will be closed until there is a pressure change. It's not going to be noticeable. I certaintly didn't notice any significant differences when I got my HKS SSQV.

Out of curiousity, where are you from? BC5 is the 2.0L DOHC Turbo Liberty (non USDM). The USDM Legacy has a 2.2L SOHC engine.

IM from NZ yeah its the BC5 2L liberty your from austraila? i guess by the liberty? thanks 4 the info.. lol i should have some fun doing this..

i question.. if i put on a bov where does the pipe come from that has pressure from the turbo you no wat i mean? its just that i took off the cover to it on the weekend.. and theres only a small pipe on the top of the stock one. I assume that just to the actuator? correct me if im wrong. The other end is the rod to the turbo.. do you get my drift?

I'm from the US, see the sig.

Follow the throttle body back to the turbo outlet, and that's where the valve needs to go.

Actually, a recirculating BOV is supposed to help a little with lag because off-boost it equalizes the pressure before and after the compressor, allowing the compressor wheel to turn with slightly less resistance. It also allows the engine to pull air in around the compressor instead of exclusively through it.

When I stuck a check valve on my BOV (converting it to an atmospheric one) to test it out, I did notice the slightly increased spool time.
