Ate a Legacy tonight @ red light.

Post by glassjaw »

I was driving down the street and I get behind this guy in a 92ish Legacy... no indication he has a turbo, but he does have an exhaust system that is far larger than needed sticking out past his bumper. He also had what appeared to be 17" wheels.

Anyway, I follow him, to see if he gets the idea, a minute later we are lined up at the red light. He has a manual, I could hear him playing with it next to me. He is revving, I am sitting silent. Green comes, I am half car ahead right off the line, and by the next light, I have a two car jump on him. I just wanted to share this with everyone, :D . I will keep my car stock looking forever! Oh, and I had about 120-150lbs of extra crap in the car from moving today, and my AC on!!! :)

I know where this car is parked normally, so I will stick a little note on it directing him to this site.

AC compressor turns off at WOT ;)

Never-the-less, that's awesome man!

I think next week, I'm going to pull my test pipe, cut it down an inch or so, and have my mechanic weld it back together (with a slight angle so my exhaust sits straight again). I don't like how my exhaust sticks an inch to far out behind my bumper :(

Hehe, nice.

Your car really has some kick to it! I noticed that when you let me drive it around the parking lot. Off the line you'd definitely smoke me.

I actually thought that it might be you.

Don't even try to lie, dude. You were not two cars ahead and the ONLY reason you were ahead at all was because I had trouble shifting into 3rd gear. Don't be putting any notes on my car either. I stopped racing when I saw that we were staying together so :P

You got a problem with my exhaust... Actually, I don't like it much anymore. It was all rusted and I got the current setup cheap so I figured what the heck.

And they're 15" wheels.

Woah, two Legacy Central members faced off!

And it sounds like there's some exaggeration of war stories going on here... ;)

Yeah, I was minding my own business and this leg pulled up next to me and the driver (glassjaw) was looking at me. I wasn't really into racing someone but I figured what the heck. I have to rev the car when I start off or it stalls. When the light turned green he took off before me and I floored it but I couldn't gain any ground but I wasn't losing ground either. I got stuck shifting into 3rd and lost some ground at that point but I had stopped racing before the next light. I was about 3/4 of a car length behind when we started running into a heavy traffic area by wegmans. My shifter has a lot of slop in it, Matt can attest to that.

All the same until you swap in a CES turbo-back exhaust and a TD05-16G...

Oh and by the way Scott and Dave. Where did this little race take place? I assume it was on a closed course, under safe conditions, with helmets and safety crews present. :P

No, Matt, it was at the traffic light on Belle Vista where the Market Street bridge off ramp come out on Third street, two lights before Wegmans heading west. That's part of the reason I let off the gas after a little bit. It's not safe to race there with the cops and all.
