For discussion abou the exhaust refer to http://www.bbs.legacycentral.org/viewto ... 5008#15008. I may be selling the axle back portion. I have no need for a muffler opening that friggin big.

No, the carbon deposits make it hard to see, but it's a plate. Look closely and you'll see where the pipe goes back.

Hope you weren't planning to ship that package. :D Has anyone asked you "Is that a water reservoir in your trunk or are you just happy to see me?" :D

Looking very excellent. My ideal car is your car. You suck. Just kidding. Keep up the good work and I'll keep drooling.

Thanks guys. Whew, good thing I didn't take pics when it was actually clean.... The coolant resevoir position is very temporary. I bent a bracket for it last night, and I should be installing it on the fender wall sometime this weekend. Then the water pump goes in... then the AWIC goes on... then the exhaust may go on w/ the axle back portion being temporary.

For now, still bone stock and smoking people. Took a co-worker for a ride last night... now he's a believer  .

I can't tell from the pics, but are you still making sure to keep the bottle above (in terms of vertical height) the rest of the cooling system? You'll need that to keep the convection currents or whatever working correctly.

Yes. I will mount it as high as I can. It will be higher than the top of the radiator. It will still be the highest point on the system except for maybe the heater core (not sure about that) and there is one line that runs to the resevoir itself that goes higher than the cap. As for the convection current deal, I don't know if it will still work. The extra lengths of hose themselves not only increase the capacity slightly but also have a radiating effect, so hopefully that will be fine. Plus now it's not mounted on the intake manifold.... you ever felt how hot that thing gets!!

By the way, Morgie, I get quite jealous of the way your car looks. This would not be a color I would choose, even after it's grown on me some. If it is ever painted, it will be close to black. And then dark rims... oh hohoho. It'll be sick!

You really should try to make the convection current dealie work. You really don't want your oil to coke up. I guess if you're careful about idling after driving on boost it's not too big a deal though. And if it does remain the highest point then the convection current ought to happen correctly... I'm not sure how high the heater core is mounted either.

The intake manifold gets hot, but not really hotter than the coolant gets anyway. The bottle will get hot no matter where you put it.

Let me also take the opportunity to say I'm jealous of how your car looks, Morgie. I used to have a black 1993 Sport Sedan. I miss it dearly. I also have a maroon sport sedan now and wish it were black. :)

I have a turbo timer :D . Well aware of preventing oil cookage. Didn't mean to sound flippant about it, just saying I have other stuff to back up the stock coolant convection deal.

And when you slap two warm bodies together they can stay warmer longer. So free ballin the coolant tank should help a little  .

I dunno, I've kinda become partial to the maroon colour (yes, thats the colour of my car) :)

But yeah, the black does look awesome... One day....

Yeah, you're right... You should be okay. I didn't mean to sound disagreeable or anything; sorry if I did.

I put a turbo timer on my old Legacy Turbo, but it was an automatic... I don't feel right about leaving my 5-speed parked out of gear so I just sit there and idle it after hard driving.

Brat, I have a question -- you're moving this bottle in order to fit the air/water intercooler, right? When I was fitting my air/air intercooler I was able to clear the bottle in the stock location by cutting off one of the intercooler's mounting tabs. Is that not possible with the air/water core?

Oh, and where did you relocate the battery to? Was it hard to do?

here is the full blown picture of the coolant tank custom mount bracket:
http://www.personal.kent.edu/~whardin/l ... t_tank.jpg

That bracket may look simple... but can you say multiple compound angles? The two mounting holes point in the x plane and the other in the y plane, but they are on a different z... so i took that 2 dimensional piece of metal and kept hammering away until i go everything to line up, including the angle it would meet the fender at. I just ran one pretty big bolt through with huge washers to hold it up. I was going to do two, but figured I wanted to be able to rotate it the right position. All I needed for the job was that piece of metal (1/8" thick, I think, maybe a little thinner), a hammer, a vice, and cordless drill with a multitude of bits to drill the holes in the bracket and fender.

And doesn't my pump look beautiful. You can't get any better and some guy was selling them really cheap brand new. Retail is ridiculous on these things. Everything in front of the main seal is all brass... it can even take debris  !! But it's well suited to the job and quiet, which is why I got it.
