the wagon in the scurve pic is his.

scary story about that turn is last year a cobb employee came to a meet and was behind a kid that was driving his car well beyond its limits and got got sideways near the botom of the s so the cobb guy went to go around him when he corrected and shot back to the left almost nailing the cobb guy. needless to say he was pretty pissed and doesnt come to meets much anymore.

but this guy

rolled his last wrx on this verry same drive almost exaactly 1 year ago. no one can figure out how he did it either

no it was the kid in front of him that was an idoit. when i say sideways i mean half of his car was off the road. he over corected and shot into the right lane where the cobb guy was, trying to go around him. turst me, the cobb guy is a verry tallanted driver.

Maybe he was looking at the camera then too, instead of the road? I dunno, but everyone else seems really concentrated on where they're going....

why was the cobb guy passing him anyway? I would've stayed back....especially if the guy that slid off the road was still moving.

we usualy drive in groups becoming fairly close at points. he was just going around rather than slow down and wait for him

Yeah.....I guess that's why I've never been a fan of going driving with a big group of the WRX guys around here......too many hot headed guys that think they can do anything. I like my space when driving....that way if someone else farks up, or if I fark up, there's room to try and recover.

exactly. If i saw a car careening out of control, I would be an idiot if i entered his space. No matter how talented I was.

jason and i know a few of the same people, and a lot of them are crazy. Spirited driving in a canyon setting is a blast, especially when you're with other people, but the only time i've ever really pushed it was around people i had a lot of trust in, regional STS and SM champions in SCCA.

Saturday before last i had a great time with my brother. He was on his ACE 750 and me in the car, chasing him up or down Logan Canyon. He was genuinely surprised that i could keep up and even gain ground in the very twisty driving. Contrary to popular belief, four wheels is a lot faster through turns than two.

Dave - Yea man, tell that to my buddy.

On the dragon, in his WRX (decked out and race ready), he was taking some turns faster than bikes. 35mph speed limits = 90mph. My other friend was behind him, and was just following with his jaw dropped.

I'm still trying to get a copy of the CD that they made from his in-car-cameras. The WRX guy took something like 16 or 17 hours of footage.

if i had better tires i would be nuts too. the mazda was the slowest car there that day but he was one of the fastest just cause he drove like a madman. he was way ahead of me in the first group and half way up and had pulled over to check something. i ended up right on him but he lost me in some twists doing outrageous speeds.

I think I love my car too much to risk piling into a guard rail, especially after seeing Brian do it. Maybe if I had better tires I'd change my tune, though.

He toasted a set of Yokohama Parada Spec 2's in 200 miles. Put them on when he got down there (had them on spare wheels), and drove them on the dragon, then took them off and put his "traveling" wheels back on.

In 200 miles of driving, one was COMPLETELY bald. Not even a trace of tread.

That's how INSANE this guy is. SO fast.

His new toy since wrecking the WRX (on a track)...

Those are R-compounds, and he's got the new ZEAL V6 coilovers on there. One of the absolute BEST coilover setups made, and they had better be for $2500.

If I recall, the Zeals have adjustable damping. . . they may not have been turned up very much when that picture was taken.

Also, a beefier swaybar does wonders for body roll. . . despite the addition of coilovers. Even with the high springrates in my Teins I have on the STi, I'd still greatly reduce my body roll with the addition of a larger rear swaybar.

Mmmmmmm. . . . Legacy GT . . . . . *droooooool*

sway bars make the back step out a ton though. id rather have my car be be tight and roll a little than be loose and not roll

A properly sized rear anti-sway bar will help control roll, which in turn will help eliminate weight shift and maximize traction without causing the rear end to step out.

If you get silly huge bar like some of the impreza guys do, then yes the rear end is bound to get squirly.

I have a friend who had an RS. He bumped up the damping on the agx's to the highest setting in the rear and softest in the front so it would act more like a RWD car........I'd ask why he did this, but didn't bother....
