Got the job :)

Post by BAC5.2 »

Had an interview today at a Nissan Dealership.

Had my initial interview yesterday, made the 'call back' cut, and had my meeting earlier today.

"congratulations" and I'm hired :)

Woo! I'll be selling new Nissan's starting next week. WEE!

This place is the tits. One of the most legit dealerships I've ever been to. Super clean, great inventory and great parking lot layout.

I'll get business cards, benefits, and make bank on comission. Last month, the highest check went to a guy. The check was written for $13,000. Woah.

LONG hours, but it'll be worth it I think.

Hmm, it'll be tough to not try and pick up an 05 350Z or G35... Maybe after I graduate...

Phil

Nice! I stopped in the dealer again today to see where that job I'm still interested in is. A few more weeks ... Grrr.

Congratulations. I love it when it happens quick like that.

Yea. I don't know what happened with it. They loved me :)

I just walked in, they asked why I wanted to do it, I said "my mom just recently bought a car, and I was unimpressed with the salesmen. I know I can do it better than that."

Next thing I know, I'm meeting the managers and employees, like the token new quarterback. Paraded around like a movie star. It was cool.

being a car salesman takes a different bread of person to be good at it and make money. Trust me.

It does also help if the dealership does a fair amount of volume. I've worked at a dealership, and have had several friends who sold cars for a while.

Not trying to dampen your mood or anything. If you have a good personality, talk with people, not try to bs them, you should do fine.

That's awesome, Phil.

I think you'll be good at it. The reason they liked you when you applied was that they sensed that your personality would work well... You can do just what Josh said.

Josh - Nah, not dampening my spirits. Making me more excited that I am that kind of person. I have a feeling I'm going to do pretty well at this. It'll be a great experience if nothing else, and will be worth my time to give it a shot.

Matt - Thanks man! I think you could sell the hell out of a car. Perhaps W&L needs a salesman? I'd suggest you getting ASE certified and working as a Suby Tech, but would you still work on Subarina if you spent 6 days a week wrenching on other peoples rides?

Thanks Vikash :)

If anyone needs a Nissan in the area, come to me :).

You need 2 yrs experience as well as passing the tests to get ASE certified. The problem with this is, at least around here, they don't pay enough to live on unless you're certified. I don't live at home so I am re-evaluating things myself. A friend of mine could've covered to ASE for me on the experience issue when they called to check my experience, but he's dead.

I'll try Hardy. I'm weird when it comes to sales. I REALLY like seeing people get amped about something. That's why I LOVED working at the bike shop selling bikes. I LOVED seeing peoples eyes light up looking at the new bling bling bikes. Plus, you can meet some cool people. It'll be nice to get people excited about a car.

Steve - Really? 2 years? Damn. I had no idea.

It's good to be selling cars you don't have to BS about liking either, like Hyundais or something.

Hm, that reminds me. I had a weird dream last night where I had to drive a Hyundai around while searching for an old mail truck in a snow storm. I hated that thing. In the dream the seat belt plugged into the parking brake.

Congratulations, Phil and good luck!

My oldest brother sold new cars for 15 years. He got sick of it eventually but he did ok in that time and raised a couple families on that money, lol. He was the classic suit and tie car salesman and he made a lot of friends and connections. I think you'll do extremely well at it judging by your personality. It takes charm, entusiasm, assertiveness, and a friendly face to sell cars.

Thanks Phil, I think I might be pretty good at it too, as long as they were cars that I liked. I don't think W&L is hiring but I'm probably going to drop off a resume there the next time I'm down that way.

I'd love to be a Suby Tech! That'd be dope and I think I'd be good at it too. I think I would probably still work on the old girl and I'd have much better tools to do it with.

I love working on cars and would someday like to make my living in some car related field. If I come into some money on down the road I may try and open a tuner/customization shop. I would like to restore old Legacy turbos and make them monsters. The market might be a little rough for that but I could make it up selling stuff to the ricers!
