What are some of you rally-x guys running for tires?

You can get them in 14" or 15" and even in stock sized 195/65/15 for the Turbo Legacy.

They look as though they would be really good in the snow, ESPICALLY if you got the soft-compound's. But I'd be very weary of tread life on the Soft compounds. I remember SCC saying that the soft compounds were AWESOME, but you could measure tire wear with a stop watch (like most Falken high-grip tires).

Get the Mediums if you want them to last you the winter season, and get the softs if you don't mind replacing them often.

I bet they are loud as a bitch on the street, but that's to be expected. Everything high-grip is loud.

I thought dirt/gravel tires needed to be made of a hard compound to work well.

i'd say it depends on the surface

if it's ultra hard packed gravel roads, you'd probably want something hard to be able to dig up the dirt

on a looser two track/non-packed dirt i'd imagine soft would be better as the surface is easy to dig into

I remember talking to Brent and experimenting ourselves, that stiffer suspension combined with non-compliant tires (Parada Spec 2's) would slide like there was no tomorrow on the gravel. Where my Legacy on RE92's would just dig in and turn.

Reguardless, Falken offers both compounds.

I've tried a few local tire places and they cant even get these from their falken distributor.......not sure what to do

just a note about gravel rally tires.

DO NOT use them in weather below freezing or in the snow. the pattern looks good but the compound WILL get very hard in the cold.

as far as rallyx tires if you must have new rally tires and are only rallxing buy the kuhmo R700 from the tire rack. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... mpare1=yes i would reccomend finding a rally team in your area and purchasing their used tires. a half to 3/4 warn rally tire wil be an awesome rallyx tire.

but you are looking at about 100 or more for their tires. the kuhmos are 80 and used rally tires can be as low as 15 to as high as 50 or more. usually around 25.

i have a set of used kuhmos i got in exchange for crewing at a rally. i also have a set of michelin M4s that i got for about 15 each.

the kuhmos are better in muddy or sandy/loose conditions and the michelins are better in gravel/hard dirt.

for a all season street tire the best choice is the nokian hakkapelita 1 or WR.
