New Radio

Post by Subaru_Nation555 »

The "play" button the CD player and the "4" button on the radio are missing. Also there are alot of burnt out bulbs on the radio. I was looking on eBay for some radios from later model Subarus and many of them look like the connections on the back will hook up okay, but some of them look smaller then the one that is in my Legacy right now. I would sorta like to maintain the origional look of the car and thats why I'm not going to get an aftermarket radio. Any info on this topic, are any members running other Subaru head units. Thanks.

Far from Bling, but it looks stock, and does what you need...

Sure thing. We're always here to help. It was meant as a direct replacement for the factory radio anyhow.. they do good work. Why they say it only works on 93 and above, I'll never know.. i think they're all the same, anyhow. When I finally get around to my whole audio bit that'll be one of the things to go in.. it provides enough power for what i want it to do..

Good luck,

The connectors are different, so you just have to connect the right wires to the right wires.

wow that's a great looking unit. I cringe at all the bling on most aftermarket units - every little piece of bling just adds to a deteriorated signal and loss of sound quality. I like a minimalist stereo because I'm interested in the music and its sound quality. I could care less about putting a discoball in my dash instead.
has anyone tried this unit from ebay? there seem to be several.
thanks,

true dat! besides, all that bling just adds to your problems of getting it stolen.. the more stock looking it is, keeps the 'stalkers' away!
and if it only fits our cars.. no one's gonna want it! you could leave you car unlocked! (well, you could, not that you would...)

Tom - Yes, another board member bought a late-model Legacy stereo on eBay and wired it into his BC/BF... try doing a search for "ebay stereo" or something to bring it up.

I've had this car since March, and not once have I locked it. ...but that's only because I don't have a key for the doors - only the ignition. :-)

I've got the stock cd/cassette player from my '93 legacy ss sitting in the trunk. It worked fine when i pulled it out and it has everything. Let me know if you want it. If you have a stock cd player its probably better to just leave the doors open, that way you wont lose a window to some stupid thief, you'd end up paying more for the window than for another stereo if they were stupid enough to steal the stock one.

sounds great. I have the stock am/fm with the cassette player right now that has some problems. I'll look you up next time in Boulder. It may be this winter or spring. If you still have it, let me know what you want for it. If not, we could meet up anyway. By the way, how is it driving to there across western Kansas in the winter or spring with only front wheel drive on a legacy wagon? I noticed several AWD Audi's last time; I'm sure it was for a good reason.
