Info on IHI RHB5 VF7

Post by thenewguy »

Hey guys

im having trouble trying to source some info on this turbo and am hoping someone can help me out. Im usuing this turbo on my 4AGTE setup in my sprinter (corolla levin in the US) and am needing to replace/upgrade it as a foreign object has wrecked some havoc inside the housing

originally i thought the turbo was off a gtx familia but have recently been advised otherwise

so if you can put up with some ultra noob questions it would really be appreciated

1. What model liberty/legacy was the turbo from?
2. what sort of hp is this turbo capable of?
3.being an ihi turbo will all ihi's bolt up to the manifold or do they have a different stud pattern?

im trying to decide if i should purchase a similar turbo or get something larger...unfortunately i didnt get the chance to put it on the dyno or run it down the 1/4 mile before the misshap so im trying to guesstimate what would best suit me

thanks for your help :D

That turbo should be from an earlier model, such as the Loyale, GL or RX. They're smaller than the RHB52 vf11 that most Legacy Turbos had.

I'd consider an updated turbo, as the vf11, T28 and even a TD04 should be easier to find and cheaper.

I had my old VF7 up to 15psi. Butt dyno says about 200-250 hp.

What are you going for with the car? Is it going to be for drags, auto-x or just more power on a street car?
I'd say for auto-x or a street setup it would be nice, if it's for the drag strip you will want a bigger turbo.
