Will 18's fit on stock SS suspension?

Post by Spud-GT »

Might buy a friend set of 18" Enkei so I can use the RS wheels for only track/rally-x days. Has anyone tried 18's in or around this size 225/40?

Yea, they will fit, but you HAVE to be on stock "4x4" suspension.

Go for it. Your brakes will look UBER tiny though...

Good call.

I would recomend a set of 17's though. The 16's have such a high sidewall, I have definately noticed the reduction in turn-in when I put the WRX wheels back on. The car feels really squirmy with the big sidewall.

Try putting the stock tires back on Phil, that will be a big difference :)

No longer have stock tires. Coming off of a low-profile, high section width tire, nothing will compare. When I get my suspension installed, I don't think I will ever be able to go back to a 195.

I will probably end up with 225/40/17's or I might sacrifice a little and run some 215/40's. Stock diameter with a stiff suspension and small sidewall = handling monster and pothole bitch.

205/40/17 could work good too. ;)

Yea, but it's also a 205, not a 225.

I want tires that can keep up with the suspension.

Im on 01 RS wheels. Thinking about going 205/45/16's till I can order some STi wheels. Was thinking about going 225/45's but that'd be crazy rubbing me thinks.

225/45's only rubbed for me a little and that was due to 2 things.

1) Fenders not rolled far enough.

2) Soft suspension.

I could probably leave the suspension alone when I get the coilovers in.
