So, I have bailed on the EJ20G powered '90 in favour of another project. I bought he Tarmac Legacy Touring wagon the other day. It is in need of some serious love, but I am pretty sure I can bring it back to life. I am going to pull the motor and use the EJ20G block with the USDM Legacy Turbo heads. With 8.5:1 CR, I figure that it will be making 180chp or so using the stock ECU and all stock parts. I will update this thread with details and pics as I tear it down and put it back together.
And before anyone asks, the logic behind this is I am stealing the EJ22T shortblock for my own build down the road...
FYI,
The EJ20G heads, manifold, rails, injectors, and AWIC are for sale. I will not part them out. They are being sold as a unit. One of our members does have dibs on them, but if I get a better offer that can come up with the $$$ quicker, I will seriously consider selling them ASAP...

It is the Tarmac car that was being parted out. It is not currently very pretty, but I will get some pics next week when I get back from SLC for thanksgiving.
And you might seriously think about doing the same sort of thing with your car since longblocks seem hard to come by. Putting an EJ20G bottom end on your car would actually be about the same level of effort and time as putting the whole EJ20G in there. You will save time by not having to move your intake manifold wiring harness over. You will just pull the engine. Remove the intake manifold, exhaust manifold and heads and reassemble them on the new block. Then you can rebuild your EJ22T shortblock at your leisure. And while it is out, you could reassemble it with DOHC heads and what not while your car is still running...

Sounds good Matt, I was wondering when somebody would try that. Are you going to be running any IC?
I'm more for going the other way, low comp high boost. But you should have a real good everyday driver powerband with the bump in comp and the small turbo.
I am really doing the build to make some $$$ putting the car back on the road and to make way for some of my own personal projects. But there is a good chance that I will drive it for the winter before I sell it off. We'll see. I may fall in love with it and not want to sell it off.
But I also have a '93 SS 5spd shell (engine has been stolen for a high powered RS-T build) that is being delivered to me in February or so. If I like the formula, I will buy another EJ20G block and throw that into the SS to run for the spring rally-x season. And if I do that, the VF-29 and an IC may be put onto that car for a bit...

I am getting the shell from Wi. And I still have the wagon sitting there. I jsut got tired of it's ugly ass and don't think it is worthy of life, let alone a swap. Plus, I need a bunch of parts from it to get the Tarmac car running. Now I just need some keys and a title...

It is not really a shell. It is a '93 SS 5 spd that a buddy is pulling the EJ22T out of for an RS-T build. He is probably going to ship me the car, have me pull the engine and ship it back to him. And then I will have myself a rally beater for next year...
