weird gas issue?

weird gas issue?

I got in my car this morning and the gas light was on so I headed the the gas station. I had 208 mile on the trip odom., but it only let me put 7 gals in.
This means I am getting over 25 mpg, which is the best I have ever seen in my car.

Is it the gas sending units?

It could have been the pump... it might have cut off too early or something.

I thought that, but the gas gauge in the car showed a full tank.

Well, the gauge does show a full tank even after you burn a couple of gallons -- it's designed to make the consumer feel satisfied with the purchase of fuel -- but, yeah, I suppose it could be one of the sending units. It just seemed odd that you'd simultaneously see unusually good mileage and see the reserve light come on unusually early.
