rain "guards"?

Post by stant093 »

Do they make these for legacy's?

I finally convinced my mother to go subaru, so she picked up a nice 1998 wagon with 80k on it (very very clean car!) but she absolutly despises the fact that you can not have the wipers on and have your window open...so shes looking for those black rain gutters.....ive never seen them and i realize the window has no frame to mount them on....any suggestions/mods that can be done to make her completley happy with the car?

They used to make them. They no longer make them in the states. I knew of a guy that bought some from a dealer over in Europe. Same body style as what your mother's, 95-99.

Only suggestion I can give is to try searching on the net and see if you can find a dealer over there that has some, and could ship to the US. They won't be cheap....from what I remember.

Don't those rain guards typically attach to the upper frame of the window? Legacies have frameless windows, so the guards would have to be very weird, right?

I think the oem ones attach to the stock rain guard that's on the body of the car, I can't remember though.

I wonder if they could clip in behind the weatherstripping. I've never actually seen them installed, though I've seen them (boxed up) in the store a few years ago.

I'm not sure how well that'd work, you'd have to roll down your window just to open or close the door.

Yeah i know that i am resurrecting an old post, but i have thought about a way to maybe fix the windshield spray at least.

Now keep in mind that i have not done this yet, because i need to replace my windshield first and then i will do a full write up when i have managed to switch windshield out.

Will let you know in about a week.
