Any other brand wheels fit Subaru?

Post by Blackbart »

Are the Subaru wheel patterns one of a kind or are there any other wheels from different makes that will fit. I was never able to find extra Legacy wheels for snow tires, the junk yards said they could not cross over to any other cars, has this changed? Anybody have any luck swapping wheels?

you need 5x100 wheels. I believe there's some GM models that have that bolt pattern. The other issue you got to look at is offset. Typically the GM wheels don't have that high an offset.

There are a bunch of cars with the 5 X 100 pattern. The Rota Battles I had on my Legacy a few years ago were from my Toyota dealership, originally intended for an 03-up Corolla or Matrix. But they were a +48 offset, which wasn't good for it, especially with my plans to lower it.

By offset, do you mean I have to worry about fender clearance or the clearance for the brakes? Or something else?

You need to worry about brake clearance, strut clearance, and fender clearance.

Offset depends on width.

My 17x7.5" Rota Subzero's are +48, and don't really rub.

They ARE pretty flush, so it'll be a tight fit when the coilovers go on.

Scott - What makes you say that the +48 wasn't good for it? I think that's about the right offset for a 7.5" rim with a 225. So close to rubbing the fender AND strut, but it fits!

Oh haha I understand what's happening now...

I should have been more clear, that lowering these cars on +48 offset would be pretty hard on the wheel bearings. I can't believe Josh has gone as long as he has on +45 offset and lowered.

And, yes, I have two completely screwed wheel bearings, don't tell me this isn't something to be concerned about :?

Really? Hmmm... +48 on a 7.5" rim was exactly the ideal offset for us, Odd.

Oh well, still gonna run them unless I can find a 17x7.5 +50 wheel that doesn't cost or weigh a shit ton.

I can afford to tuck the wheel in a little bit with the coilovers. They are about 1/2 the diameter of the stock spring/strut setup.

So next time I am at the JY is there a car I should keep my eyes open for? I am not fussy, or a racer, just want some decent looking spare wheels. My car is stock hight.

all mk4 (99-2004) VWs are 5x100, and VR6 mk3s were also 5x100. you may have trouble with offsets though, as VWs are usually around et35-et42. there is also huge aftermarket for VW wheels so you are bound to find something if you look hard enough.

I'm running four VW Jetta (around 2001 model) stock wheels on my 90 Legacy wagon. I bought them for 20bucks with the Michelin mxv4plus tires on them. No problems at all.
