Turbo Legacy & Legacy L differences....

Post by TheSubaruJunkie »

When it comes to brakes, i know the TLeg are larger. But I need to know if the steering knuckle (hub) & CV's are any different.

I will need parts from a Legacy for a project, and since I have my turbo legacy at my disposal, i might be using some of its parts. I'll have to bolt Legacy L Brakes to the Turbo Legacy's hub and use Legacy L calipers as well. My Turbo Legacy has a 5spd tranny, so I need to know the spline count on the CV's and find out if they're the same as standard L CV's.

Thanks all

STD, L, LS, LSi, Turbo they're all the same. Hub, knuckle, control arm, tie rod, axle, all the same.

Yes, the CVs are the same for turbos and non-turbos.

The CVs on FWD cars are beefier than the front CVs on AWD (turbo or non-turbo) cars, but they have the same spline count and length and whatnot.

Converting my RX to the legacy's bolt pattern.

Since I'll have parts left over from my Turbo Legacy, Im going to use some of those parts. Im getting KYB GR2's from the yard this weekend, now all I need to do is find a XT6 for some rear brakes and lower control arms.

I was just thinking a few hours ago if this was possible with an '84.

Not possible with an 84 without EXTENSIVE modifications. The EA82's have a 3 bolt pattern for the struts, which need to be slightly modified to fit legacy struts. The EA81's however use 2 bolt struts, and the lower end is alot different.

Does anyone have a spline count for me on our CV's?? And maybe lenghts. I need to compare them.
