Group N engine mount installation
I sid a search and viewed the results but would like more input on installing the mounts. The vehicle is a 91ss with 5/mt. If anyone has installed new mounts on their Turbo Legacy I would like to know your lessons learned. I know you jack up the engine. do you have to remove the header pipe at the manifold and or the downpipe from the turbo? It seems like this would be neccessary to allow the engine to move up. Would love to hear from thosse who have done this job. Have a happy Christmas Season.
The turbo, header, etc are all bolted to the engine. If you jack it up, everything will move up as one unit.
however removing some of those things may give you more room to jack the motor up, and work.

I put in STI performance mounts on my 91 turbo and it was a bit of a pain but I did not remove anthing but the transmission mount bolts. This is very important because if you dont you will be buying a new tranny mount. Just take off the tranny nuts and lift the engine. You may have trouble resetting the mounts in the bolt hole so keep the levelage bar handy.
