Operation: Hella 90MM Modules on a prefacelift
So I finally bit the bullet and bought a set of these, two low beams and two high beams. Received them on thursday evening and was amazed at how light they were. I decided to just fiberglass a housing up for them. I did a quick line up with some cardboard and after some tracing had a cardboard cutout. It was too late to do anything else so I stopped for the night.
Friday, I went to home depot and got some fiberglass supplies, resin, mat, cloth, brushes, etc. I also went all around town looking for some damn styrofoam to make a mold out of. Using the cardboard cutout I created a mold out of styrofoam, which I then covered in duct tape. Fiberglass will not hold to the duct tape, so it's a cheap mold release. It again got too late and I didn't have the safety supplies I needed so I held off until Saturday.
Saturday, did some more shopping and got most of the wiring stuff I needed. I started laying the fiberglass aswell. I could only do about a layer or so last night so I just let that set.
Today, After the fiberglass set overnight I tried to take off the mold and found that one layer is not enough to remove the fiberglass from the mold. Especially not how crapily I layed it. Anyway, I added two more layers or so. Then I started on the wiring, I did it fairly half-assed just to see how well the light worked and if it was even worth the effort. I couldn't get it to work with the relay, which I think is at fault. But I just hardwired it to the battery and wow was it ever a nice light. I really want to finish this up now!
Anyway, that's my progress right now. I need to give the housing a few more layers of fiberglass, mount the lights to it, then mount the housing to the car, then finish the wiring up. I really wish I had the ability to just make the bracket/housing out of metal and be done in like 20-30 minutes but oh well. Would you guys be interested in pictures of the process?

Okay, I only did the driver side one for now. When I start on the passenger side I'll try to document it as best as I can.

ebay, because at the time my firewall didn't like rallylights.com. I didn't find that out until after the fact. I believe with everything it like like 350 or so, i forget.

Damn, $350? Well, I guess that's the cost of aftermarket headlights anyhow, right? I just cleared all my headlights last night.. took the preface ones off, did 'em. Took the post face ones off, did 'em. They's all sparkly clean now!
I'll start a thread about it later, it only took me ~10 mins per headlight.

Still where I was. Between work, school, and sleep haven't had much free time to do anything.
