Slew of codes from my 90 Legacy, one common problem?

Post by McDade »

Wow, i just pulled the codes out of my 90 legacy, the previous owner says the light has been on for 8 years, but the car runs fine. I have to take the car to inspection and need to fix it, but I was shocked to find as many codes as I did.

35 Canister Purge Valve
11 Crank Sensor
13 Cam Sensor
31 Throttle Sensor
33 VSS Sensor

The car runs fine and everything works. Anyone know of any common problems that would cause all these codes? I know of the knock sensor problem but I doubt it would cause any of these. All missing inputs.

thanks

Clear 'em and see which ones come back. Some might have been spuriously triggered without actual problems. 11 and 13, for example, can't be current because your engine runs.

If the car runs just fine, 35 is probably the only code that's significant there.

yep, thanks for the reply I was being lazy cause I coudnt find the other half of the green connector, but I dug deep and found it, did the ecu reset, and it came back with the canister purge valve code, so im gonna order one up, and check the wrining to it later.

Hopefully that will take care of it, dont want to spend to much money on this car as its my ''beater''

192K and still going strong!! weeeeee

ill update this when I get the part in. :)

Yeah, the wiring's probably fine. You kinda expect a 192,000-mile-old CPC solenoid to give up. It's mounted in a rather hostile location where it's subjected to lots of heat and vibration.

Somewhere around 100-120k is pretty normal for the cpc solenoid to go. Some go sooner, some go later.

You could always do the resistor mod if you didn't want to bother with it.

Close, but some of the numbers got messed up.

This is the correct part # 14774AA351

The original was 14774AA350, however it's been superceeded with the 51 number.
