Intercooler off a Forester XT. Got a great deal on it over at the USMB... cost me $50 :D Think it'll fit my Turbo Legacy better than a WRX one will?

Check this pic fo a comparison of the two ICs.

Nice!, But watch that bypass valves clearance with the throttle cables.

Looks like the only serious problems I'll have is re-routing the BOV. It wont fit where it is now, because it strikes the Throttle Cable.

I think I'm going to have my friend fab. up an adapter of some sort with a bend on it, so I can place the BOV underneath the IC or something.

It looks kinda like there's foam insulation wrapped around it secured with electrical tape.

nice find, and at a good price to boot!

that'll fit well since it's narrower and thinner than the wrx one

It seems like it might fit ok, but the BOV is a big issue though. The WRX's BOV is further to the right, so it clears the Throttle Linkage.

And as for the hose between the Turbo and IC, I think it's wrapped for insulation (since it sits so close to the turbo) to avoid getting it hot, or even melting it. That's just my best guess.

Post by napstermike »

not to hi-jack your thread, but here is how it fits into the engine space. i still have to re-rout the coolant tank but everything pretty much fits up. its my next project that's on my list. I just got done installing a new crate motor in my Legacy along with a 5 speed conversion. this is an awsome car!!! see if this works

J-MoNeY, thank you for posting the pics for me. As for the engine, that had 0 miles on it. It came from a crate. i'm working on putting a '05 legacy turbo on it with the intercooler. couple more weeks it should be done.
