Photos and part numbers for automatic tranny cooler and line

Post by 1993 Legacy »

Hello,
I have a 1993 Legacy AWD automatic station wagon which does not have any automatic tranny fluid cooler or filter. The car has approx. 100,000 km on the clock and I wanted to change the fluid and at the same time add the cooler, which apparently is standard on some cars, and filter. Can anyone send me some pictures of the system (cooler, hoses i.e. lines, location, filter kit, etc.) as well as part numbers, please?

Thanks and best regards

Dusan

P.S. Are there any parts which might be interchangeable with other models/cars?

I didn't know any subarus came with a tranny cooler stock. And I was under the impression that all the new gen subarus can with a heat exchanger in the radiator.

All the AT cars have a heat exchanger in the radiator. Mine did.

However yeah I don't know of any subaru that had a stock external cooler.

Hi Josh,
How about some photos, please. I have a simple radiator up front in my car. From everything I have read it is heat that kills the automatic gearbox. At least this was the case with most SVXs, no? I have a tubular automatic gearbox fluid radiator from a saab in my garage but I have not checked the dimensions nor the possible placing yet. I have to deal with a torn right front axle inner boot. The one that sits right above the exhaust. It litteraly popped straying grease on the first muffler suffocating me inside the car. :))

I would really appreciate some photos of the standard ATF cooler/heat exchanger in the radiator set up.

Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards

There's really not much to show....the only thing indicating there is a heat exchanger is two lines coming out of the radiator on the driver's side (USA)

I'd have to check and see if I have any pics
