A shudder in the pedal when braking would usually indicate warped rotors-atleast thats been my experience.

that was my first impression but if the rotor is warpped it usually does it more frequently this feels like something might be jammed but short of ripping the calipers off i thought i would see if its happened to anyone else

i also have a lot less brakeing power than i should have sometimes its like stopping an oil tanker so i got the servo checked out which was fine

Possibly the master cylinder is at fault. When the cars off, pump the brake pedal, in two or three pumps it should become very frim. You can also check for any small tears in the lines.

When was the last time the brakes were bled? As for the pulsing, I think it may be slightly warped rotors. It's common on Subarus and they don't pulse all the time until they're really bad. Highway use is where they first show signs. If you want to get rid of the warping issue (at least for a few years) I recommend getting new ones cryo treated.

the discs dont look warpped but the highway is were its happening most so il have them off and have some new discs and pads cause the master is fine and the lines were bled and replaced about 2000 miles ago

"Warped" discs are often fine when relatively cool but become really out of true when they get hot, which typically happens when you apply the brakes at high speed.

Warped rotors are really an incorrect term. DTV or disc thickness variation is the more proper term.

If you get pulsation I'd check the rotors for hot spots where pad material has been unevenly deposited. If there is some, try sanding the rotor to remove these spots, and then rebed the brakes.

If that still doesn't fix the problem, you should have the rotors turned/trued.
