I would have taken my old alternator straight back to where I bought it from, but alas, I lost my receipt

I won't make that mistake twice lemme assure you.
The car does indeed run excellent again, it has its power back, it doesn't hesitate, and my head unit doesn't dim anymore!
I've had slight improvements with ECU resets in the past, not dramatic changes in how the car ran, that's why I wasn't expecting much with this one.
I'm guessing what happened was the ECU had learned the reduced load that the bad alternator was putting on the drivebelt and compensated accordingly, and the reset taught it over again what it's like to run with a new charging system.
Andrew (petridish38) can tell you that my car does indeed run extremely well for its age and mileage. And what's funny is I don't think I do anything really special, I just maintain it like it calls for.
Anyway, thanks again, and as I figured would happen later, I'm glad I didn't sell the car a couple months ago.
