At PIR again tonight, this time I brought the family out.

Swapped back to the 205/55/16 crap tires....

Pull a 12.55 @ 117.69 with a 2.1 60'... poop...

Wife wants to leave. C'mon, watch one more please?

I nail it... Its flipping perfect.

Then the #4 (I am betting) cylinder wall splits in 4th gear...... I keep the pedal to the metal...

Pull over at the end of the track, determine, yes, there is WATER everywhere, not oil. So I know I split the cylinder wall... Drive down the return lane and park.

My friend I was racing pulls up after getting his time slip (why would I want mine? I sucked ALL of 4th gear.)

"I think you want this"

60' 1.940
1/8 7.943
mph 91.75
1/4 12.499
mph 96.99

IF only the motor hadn't popped. What if, what if, what if.......

Had it running on the 10th, but something was wrong.

Turns out the timing belt idler pulley shaft thingy was too long.... And I had an oil leak.... fixed that....

So tonight I drove it finally....

Smokes...

But who fucking cares, it runs.

The leak was a bad (actually WRONG) valve cover grommet.

The tak tak tak was mainly a too long tension idler bushing shaft....

still have MASSIVE piston slap at start up, and its still there in ONE cylinder allthe time. And the turbo is going bad.

But its still fast...... :)

Took it back to the drag strip, 622 miles on the new block...

Best was 12.8 @ 115 and 13.0 @ 116.xx

Tires SUCKED with 2.33 average 60' tiime.

Then I rubbed through the front left brake line. Wheeeeeee.

E-braked it back to the shop.....

Found out why I was having occasional fuel pressure issues, not to mention the occasional NO PRESSURE starts....

The connector under the rear seat was melting....

Completely fried out today at Fred Meyer. Cut it up and jury rigged it to get back to the shop and soldered into one piece. Pressure is much higher and steady now....

Still having low voltage issues. alternator reads 13.5 give or take, but ECU reads 11.5 at idle, 12.8 while driving.....

thats funny you siad that!! i had a black wagon a couple years ago, that had fried the connecter to the fuel pump under the seat.

on another note! when the cars day time running light's go out, it means the alternator is on its way out. its like a fail safe thing.

Hmm nico explains why this happened a while ago.

Also found the same thing with my car except when I bought it they soldered the wires together.

Now that the dual fuel pumps are running "right", fuel pressure is so high that the 5th injector just has to be a SMIDGE turned on to go from lean to rich to backfiring! But I think I have it figured out now!

Best run a few weeks ago was 12.66 @ 114ish NO 5th injector. Maxxed out the 4 injectors.

Come the 8th, I hope to run down at Woodburn. I suspect I will get a 120 plus run but 12.XX. hahahahahah

Split another cylinder wall.....

It happened at Woodburn on DECELLERATION. So the wall must have cracked under load, then sucked in water after the run and split.....

Tranny also may be going out.

The 5th injector was OFF because it was ****ING UP. So I may have leaned out up top and detonated. But E85 det is not noticable as far as I can tell compared to gas det.

But I did win Street Modified for $100! Of course I was the only car in my class. The 5-6 subarus that did run were in street stock and were running in the low to mid 13's.... My best was 12.8 @ 114 and 12.9 @ 116.16

I will be running the block Spencer bought from me next....

Location: Gresham Oregon
Ambient Temp: 65
Elevation: 250?
Weather: Clear
Tires: Toyo Proxes 4 205/55/16

Car: 1990 Legacy Wagon
Tuner: Doug Vincent
Dyno Info: Dyno Dynamics PRE Racing
Peak HP at RPM: 392 at 6500 rpm 17 psi 423 @6000 rpm 23 psi
Peak Torque at RPM: 375 at 5000 rpm 17psi 429 @ 5250 rpm 23 psi
Target Boost: 17 and 23
Fuel: e85
Engine/Power Modifications: 2.5 NA block, 99.5 mm CP pistons, STI rods, 1997 EJ20 twin turbo heads, 800 CC injectors, 5th injectors (barely needed), Vortech FMU 3-1, Ebay T3/T4 turbo. Borla NA header, custom up and downpipe, 3" exhaust

Drivetrain Mods - dual diaphram pressure plate, 6 puck, 1997 STI gearset in NA case.

Tuned for daily driving 17psi and "race" 23 psi.

The 17psi map has been tweaked a little more so probably close to 400 torque, but not on the graph. Dip in the boost probably due to fluke, wasnt doing that other runs.

Then I turned up the boost to 23 but it obviously would not hold and tapered to 20. Had been on dyno for about two hours so I called it good for now.

Doug, come pull my trans, fix the clutch/release bearing issue, put the trans back in and put the rest of the motor together for me. I bet you could do it in 2 hours. lol

Those are some impressive numbers. I was hoping to run 17psi too with EJ20G, rob's tuned EJ20G ECU, 565s, TD05-16g, 3" TBE. I wonder what kind of power it'll make.

I am running rich, but in the 23 psi map, I need to stay with that tune cause if the boost DOES hold, then I have the fuel....
